A short piece by myself on myth-making in the military has been published over at Guardian Online. There are of course several other stories I’d like to have told, but space was tight!
The site is running a series of articles to tie in with the opening of The Men Who Stare at Goats, a new film inspired by Jon Ronson’s book. I’ve seen the film and it’s very funny indeed – Jeff Bridges is on top form as First Earth Battalion‘s Jim Channon, while the FEB training scenes are affectionately done and all too believable.
Meanwhile, I’m just making the finishing touches to my own book, Mirage Men, which greatly expands on some of the material mentioned in the Military Myths piece and is due next Summer from Constable Robinson.
