Asphalte Editions have published a French edition of London Noir, edited by Cathi Unsworth and featuring stories by amongst others, Barry Adamson, Ken Bruen, Max Decharne, Ken Hollings, Stewart Home, Cathi Unsworth, Martyn Waites and myself.
One very cool thing they’ve done is put together an online playlist of tracks that the authors feel either informed their stories, or somehow reflect it. My own selection, ‘White Horse’, an anti heroin song by Belgian early ’80s synthpop outfit Laid Back, actually gave my Dennis Wheatley-esque contribution its title, ‘She’ll Ride a White Horse’.
At the time (2004/5) the song was doing the rounds in a fantastic remixed version, which I’ve found on youtube here, along with another, zanier electro version here.
You can find the full playlist – which includes The Clash, The Fall, The Kinks, The Ruts, Carl Craig and others – here.
