Finally, over a year after the first edition and following several days and very long nights of intensive labour from the SAJ crew, Journal Two is ready. It has been delivered to the printers – all 432 pages of it – and should be back in mid-April.
Alison Hutchinson and myself are very proud of this new edition: it’s a monster alright, but we love it! Taking off where J1 ended, it leads us into some entirely new territory, while revisiting areas that may be familiar in surprising new ways.
The highlights are too numerous to mention, but it features work from both veteran authors and some who will be new to you. We travel from an18th century alchemical lab to the mountains of present day Nepal, via ancient Peru, Halifax and the remains of a ruined future London. En route we encounter charlatans and visonaries, poets, madmen, phantom assailants, fungal sentiences, voodoo priestesses, surrealists, fantasists and trickster deities. By the time you’ve digested it all we’ll hopefully be ready with another one.
Because of the increased girth and resulting postage increases, the price has had to go up to £14 inc p&p, but I hope that you’ll find this reasonable.
As before, the first 200 copies sold will be in beautiful collectors’ editions, hand stamped and numbered by us. Unexpectedly I found an extra box of Journal One with collectors’ covers, about 20. Now’s the last chance you’ll get to order one, please email me separately about these so that I can keep track of numbers.
There will be a launch event sometime in late April, details to be announced nearer the time.
