Ohh, the Wellcome Library blog announces that they’ve acquired a full set of Haeckel’s beautiful Kunstformen der Natur (artforms in nature).
It consists of one hundred colour plates which are intended to justify Haeckel’s adaptation of Goethe’s “typological” biology. The “typologies” which they publicise are analogous forms in different domains, such as the antlers of the African antelope, the scales of fish and the sense-organs of bats.
SA pal Ross Mcfarlane at the Wellcome also notes that the library has copies of all the grimoires listed in Owen Davies’ top ten, though their copy of the Necronomicon is missing.
