One of many videos shot on 8 December all over Norway’s northwestern coastline. It appears to show a swirling spiral of light, apparently projected from a single light source.

It looks artificial, and some have speculated that it might be some kind of weapons test (perhaps a giant hypno-ray?). The White and Barents Seas are regularly used as launching grounds for Russsian missiles, though there has been no comment from their Defence Ministry as yet.
UPDATE: The Russians are now saying that it was a failed missile test – presumably one that accidentally opened a gateway into another dimension. Really, just what sort of missile was that?!
