Monday, 9 June, 8.45pm, Cinema 1, the ICA, the Mall, London.
Oort will be performing an improvised electronic soundtrack to Novyy Vavilon, The New Babylon, a legendary, visually striking Russian film from 1929 that rewrites the history of the 1871 Paris Commune as, you guessed it, a vision of Marxist-Leninist class struggle.
The evening is part of the ICA’s Nought to Sixty season and is curated by Jesse Jones, who is also screening her own short film The Spectre and the Sphere, featuring famed thereminist Lydia Kavina.
Oort are:
Richard Guest (keyboard, effects)
Rachel Hamilton (theremin, flute)
Zali Krishna (Q Chord)
Mark Pilkington (synth & electronics)
Tickets are free but you need to book ahead on 020 7930 3647.
