Hands Off 2007 – the UK Theremin Symposium

Hands Off 2007 is a long weekend of talks, masterclasses, demonstrations, performances, workshops and socialisation at the end of July in the Purcell School of Music on the outskirts of London.

Hands Off 2007 will feature artists and speakers including Lydia Kavina, Wilco Botermans, Barbara Buchholz, Carolina Eyck, Charlie Draper, Jon Bernhardt of The Lothars, Bruce Woolley of the Radio Science Orchestra, The Beatrix Ward-Fernandez Trio, Spacedog, Chris Conway, Beat Frequency and UK Theremin manufacturers Jake Rothman (theremin.co.uk) and Tony Bassett (no1nderland.com.) The finale of the event will be debut performance of the UK League of Thereminists!

Lydia Kavina and Carolina Eyck will be offering private tuition to attendees.

There will also be some interesting instruments at the symposium, including Musaire’s RCA Victor theremin (courtesy of Richard Cole of the Musical Museum,) Bruce Woolley’s recently restored and fully functional RCA Victor theremin, Wilco Botermans and Jessica Hummel’s Croix Sonore, and, accompanying Spacedog, Clara the Robot Thereminist, as well as musical saws and waterphones.
